Third graders performed an inquiry activity to determine the speed of a wind-up toy. They carried out an investigation with their partners. They laid the meter stick on their desk. One partner wound up the toy and the other partner used a stop watch to keep track of time. On”Go!”, they started the stopwatch and let go of the wind up toy. Then they recorded the distance traveled by the wind up toy in 30 seconds and one minute. They repeated the trial three times and recorded their data.
