Second grade presented a readers’ theater on February 21, titled “Mushroom in the Rain”. The mini play was an extension of a story from our Open Court Reading Program . 2A performed for Mrs. Sulitzer’s and Ms. Selner’s Kindergarten classes, and 2B performed for Mrs. Davidson’s Pre-kindergarten class. Many of our 2nd graders have siblings in these classes, and it was nice to share the play with them.The children worked together to make the play a success by designing costumes and background props. A readers’ theater activity helps to further engage interest in the story that was read, strengthen comprehension, and improve public speaking skills in a fun and creative way. Congratulations to 2nd grade for a job well done!
