Four of Cedar Hill Prep’s seventh graders, Arjun Agrawal, Vishnu Gade, Aarav Gupta, and Siddharth Rochiani, will travel to Nagoya, Japan to compete in the 2017 RoboCup Jr. World Competition from July 25 – July 30. In May, the four students competed and won as a team against over 200 students here in the United States. The students took part in the OnStage Competition, which is the best opportunity to see how robots can work collaboratively with each other and showcases communication between robots and also with humans. It also exhibits how robots can tell a story and be artistic.
The competition was judged for performance, presentation to the judges, artifacts, and team work. In Japan, the team will aim to incorporate multiple robot platforms as a means of improving their ultimate performance. The team’s goal is to win first place in the Individual Awards and to win the SuperTeam Award as the Cedar Hill Prep RoboCup Team did in July 2016.
Cedar Hill Prep Principal, Donald Seeley, commended the RoboCup Team with this statement. “It gives me great pleasure to wish you the very best of luck as you travel to Japan for the RoboCup 2017 World Championship. Some of you can reflect on your experiences last year in the RoboCup 2016 World Championship in Germany and help your teammates through the process.
I ask that you try your best, continue to work hard, problem solve, work as a team, respect your opponents, win or lose with class and dignity, but most importantly…have fun and enjoy the moment.
The entire CHP community is very proud of all of you and we wish you the very best of luck. Please be safe. Go Cedar Hill Prep!”
