Diwali is an Indian festival of lights. The holiday lasts for five days. This year the holiday starts on November 12th. The festival gets its name from the row of clay lamps that Indians light outside their homes. Some holiday traditions include getting new clothes, jewelry, eating sweets, exchanging gifts and decorating the house with diyas and flowers. Preschoolers learned about this holiday by listening to a story called, Binny’s Diwali. Then the children colored their own beautiful paper diyas.
