Middle School Science Ecosystems and the game Jenga? Connection? Students in Mrs. Galiano’s Grade 5 Science class began the unit with a quick game of Jenga. After a few blocks came tumbling down students made the connection that Ecosystems need balance just as Jenga blocks do. Even one piece of a system that gets taken away will throw the whole Ecosystem off balance.
There is cause and effect to everything that happens in an Ecosystem, especially any kind of harm. Students made that connection and are now more aware of what they are about to explore Earth’s Ecosystems.
