Our kindergarten students embrace all celebrations and today that celebration was Diwali! The children learned that Diwali is a festival of lights celebrated by Hindus all over the world. Diwali honors Lord Rama’s victory of goodness against evil and light over dark. Diwali lasts for five fun-filled days. The children also learned that Hindu families clean and decorate their homes with beautiful lights and colors. Women make Rangoli patterns to be put outside their houses to welcome the Gods. Everyone wears their best clothing. During Diwali, fireworks fill the night sky with bright colors. Sweets are exchanged and families and friends enjoy time together. The kindergarten children decorated their Diya’s and later shared Indian sweets. Happy Diwali!
