The Kindergarten children learned the true meaning of Thanksgiving. They learned why it was important for the pilgrims to risk their lives and set sail on the Mayflower in hopes of a better life and religious freedom. The Pilgrims faced many hardships but were saved by Native American friends like Squanto. Native Americans helped the Pilgrims by supplying them with seeds and food, teaching them about their new home, and by teaching them the skills needed to survive in a strange, new land. To celebrate their good fortune, the Pilgrims had a feast of Thanksgiving which they thankfully shared with their Native American friends.
Kindergarten is thankful for their great fortune in having a loving family, friends, teachers, food, shelter and clothing. Our Kindergarten family celebrated being thankful by reciting a Thanksgiving poem and singing a Thanksgiving song. The children played “Hot Turkey” and played “Pin the Tail on the Waddle!!!” The children had a delicious feast and continued to have a festive day with a Turkey craft!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!
