Grade 6 – 8 spent three days in Baltimore exploring the city’s significant contribution to American history and learning about some of its most notable residents.
Along the way, our students were able to explore two of the finest interactive educational experiences on the East Coast – the National Aquarium and the Maryland Science Center. Social Studies students completed research on Ft. McHenry, a significant fort for the War of 1812 where Francis Scott Key penned the National Anthem from a British ship in the harbor overlooking the Battle of Baltimore.
Students were able to explore the birthplace and museum of baseball legend Babe Ruth and learn about how The Star Spangled Banner came to be performed at sporting events.
After visiting the original Washington Memorial and the grave of Edgar Allan Poe, students walked through historic Fells Point while listening to local ghost stories.
It was a wonderful chance for students to bond with each other and their faculty chaperones while learning about one of our country’s most important early cities.
