Grade 6 Science is busy studying the moon and other planets to prepare for their simulated trip to Mars next month. Students hypothesized on what they thought was inside a cupcake. They took core samples, mapped out results, and rethought their hypothesis. The students cut open the cupcake to reveal the true interior. In the process students discussed why photos from satellites are not enough data for decisions on moon and planet colonization.
The students met their objective of what other types of tests can be conducted in order to get the most information about a planet. They learned how important knowing the core of the sphere is in decision making for future explorations. Science is engaging, insightful, and fun!
