Mrs. Callahan 6th Grade Social Studies students have started a study of the history of immigration in the United States. The first part of their project involved learning about the myths surrounding immigrants who come to this country.
There are many false assumptions about those who are new immigrants to the United States.
The students worked in groups researching these myths and finding factual information to bust these false assumptions. The students put together powerful PowerPoint presentations, using infographics, videos, music, and various images to deconstruct the inaccuracies and distortion about immigrants to the United States. The students will soon begin a study of the book “Open Borders: The Science and Ethics of Immigration.”
