On Thursday February 6th, Cedar Hill Prep School 3rd grade students and parents participated in D.E.A.R. Parents came in with their own lunches and books, and joined us in thirty minutes of silent reading time. Silent reading has been proven to enhance reading enjoyment, increase comprehension, build vocabulary and improve writing skills, according to several studies posted by educators all over the country. These advantages are not just for children, either! We could all benefit from at least ten minutes of uninterrupted reading time every single day. Looking forward to our next DEAR event on March 5th. Great job third graders!
