First graders listened to Snowman stories to experience the notion of a magical snowman. Each student designed their individual magical snowman and used parts to “build” their snowman. Students also created special snowflakes. Each snowflake was cut out by a folded pattern and was used to create a CHP snowman.
First graders used their creation of their magical snow pal to complete their 1st narrative! Initially, our students needed lessons on how to tell a story with sequence words such as first, next and last. Our students put forth great effort to describe each event, and if possible, to include what happened afterwards. The next step was the editing of spelling , punctuation, and adding of details. Our students are so proud of their efforts!
