Grade 3:
In celebration of El Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), grade 3 students were introduced to this special Latin American holiday that takes place November 1-2. They learned the significance of items placed on an Ofrenda (memorial altar) and listened to the story of Rosita y Conchita. This is an award-winning children’s book by Erich Haeger and Eric Gonzalez. The story centers on two sisters trying to reunite on Day of the Dead.
Grade 5 students completed a webquest gathering information on the history and Mexican traditions of El Día de Los Muertos celebrations.
