At CHP, the distance learning did not hamper students from celebrating Cinco de mayo! The student’s spirit for appreciation of culture and celebration is strong.
Cinco de mayo is a Mexican Holiday, celebrated with great honor and pride, to commemorate a great victory against the French in 1862. It is not Mexico’s Independence Day, which is September 16th.
To celebrate Cinco De Mayo Fiesta, students brought their favorite Mexican snacks to Spanish VL class, and enjoyed it while learning about its history, decorating Cinco De Mayo title page, sombrero, and listening to Mariachi music.
Some students put technology in full gear, came prepared with several Cinco de Mayo, background scenes, changing at intervals.
To top it all, students had a lot of fun learning the Mexican Hat Dance.
¡ Qué divertido!
