Just as the Presidential Election was on everyone’s minds, CHP too participated in a Mock Presidential Election. The 7th and 8th grade Math students created an Electoral College with 1st through 8th grade classes each having a certain number of electoral votes based on student population per class. On Monday, November 2nd, our newly elected House Leaders represented both sides of the aisle, and during Middle School and Lower School Assemblies, professionally presented the issues both candidates were promoting. The next day, during Election Day, all CHP on-campus and virtual staff and students had the opportunity to cast their votes either online or fill a ballot and place it in the Drop Boxes.
The results came in, and while the Popular Vote was a mix for both Trump and Biden, it was an Electoral Sweep for Biden. The Staff too participated, and the popular vote was a close tie with Biden winning by just two votes. In all, it was a great learning experience for the students, and an opportunity to be a part of a historic election year.
