Students in Grades 3 through 8 put on a Student Exhibit. Students engineered paper sculptures using technology techniques such as cutting, folding, and pasting for kinetic action. The sculptures included: 3D pop-ups, tab-slides, Book Art which uses actual books as a sculptural material, and Sirigami, which uses cut paper strips arrayed in layers or a series to show animation and transition. The pop-ups posed the biggest challenge. The students created precise folding into “V-Folds”, “parallel folds”, parallelograms and more. Many students mixed multiple techniques including inset booklets, accordion folds and pop up within pop-ups. The projects ranged from abstract forms and colors to renditions of their storyboard comics stories to original creations.
