“Good endings leave children with feelings of pride in their learning, and that prepares them for another good beginning the following fall.“
– Marlynn Clayton
The last few weeks of school can be challenging. As thoughts turn to summer vacation it can be difficult to keep our students’ minds (and ours!) on school work. Third grade organized a few fun activities to utilize their time wisely. We started off by playing lots of board games, the students played monopoly, chutes and ladders, Apples to Apples to name a few. They enjoyed playing the game of Twister and were even allowed to remove their shoes (not socks!) in order to have fun. They organized a game of chess one afternoon, it was really nice to see the support and enthusiasm of even the non chess players. The third grade students enjoyed the outdoors by playing cricket, basketball, four square, tag, and drawing with their sidewalk chalks. They also worked on their Father’s day gifts. The students also helped the teachers tidy up their classrooms so that the classrooms are ready for September. Lastly, but not the least, they ended third grade with a big bang, literally, as they popped balloons labeled with their numbers to signify the end of a terrific year!
