“Stop the Presses!”
We just kicked off our first Printmaking Studio project, “The Collagraph“. This weeks session focused on building a traditional collagraph plate. Using a wide variety of materials, the students worked toward expressing a personal statement based on nature. Some tackled Deforestation, some created beautiful landscapes or even images of animals found in nature.
The design is glued to the plate and then coated with thinned Elmer’s glue and left to dry for one week. These plates will be printed in multiple colors in the intaglio and the relief fashion in Week Two. Next weeks lesson is going to be at the Printmaking Center of New Jersey!
