Cedar Hill Prep Robotic Teams advance to World Championship!

Cedar Hill Prep School’s Robotic Teams won the RoboCup Junior Competition for Best Overall and Best Programming in the “OnStage League,” a competition held at the Horace Mann School in NY on April 17, 2016. The team that won the Overall Competition comprised of Arjun Agrawal, Aarav Gupta, Nitasha Gupta, and Nivritti Mantha.

The team that won for Best Programming was comprised of Siddharth Rochlani, Cole Shannon, and Shane Shannon. Both teams were coached by Neetika Bhalla, CHP Middle School teacher of Math and Robotics. The champions will represent the United States in the RoboCup Junior World Championship, which is organized by RoboCup Federation each summer. The 2016 Championship will be held June 30 – July 4 in Leipzig, Germany. Last year, 33 countries from around the world were represented.

The RoboCup Junior USA Competition challenges students (up to 19 years of age)to work collaboratively as a team to design, create, and code robots to solve problems. The competition is divided into three leagues: Soccer, Rescue and OnStage. The robots are fully autonomous, using sensors to explore the world around them and make decisions without human intervention. The competition is open to students with any level of experience, and teams can use any tool or technology they want, from modifying preexisting robotics kits to building everything from scratch.
